Dear Alumni and Friends of Montessori School,
In 1985, Montessori School of Ruston began its journey as Wildflower Montessori School under the direction of Barbara Crocket. Its humble beginnings were in a small rent house "on the corner" with 15 families and a loving, unique way to educate our community's young children. Over the years, we have added additional early childhood classrooms, two elementary programs, a middle school program, additional property, and two new buildings to accommodate this growth. Montessori School of Ruston is already distinguished as the only Montessori program in the region offering preschool through middle school. We've come a long way, baby!
As a friend of MSR, you know the power of the gracious, courteous, and respectful Montessori approach to education and its importance in our community. The availability of Montessori education is an important part of attracting and retaining forward-thinking families in our growing community. We have created a 3-phase master plan for managed growth in response to the needs in our community.
"Phase 1" of the master plan included updating school security and emergency preparedness plans, along with the addition of an outdoor classroom. It also established Art, Spanish, and Physical Education programs, as well as Science and Social Studies enrichment teachers. "Phase 1" was completed in May 2014.
We are currently in "Phase 2" of our master plan. We are pleased to report that we have recently completed a new addition to the school and therefore a significant addition to its mission! Beginning this 2014-15 school year, MSR embraces a new, fully-enrolled classroom of toddlers (affectionately called "The Nest"), ages 18 to 36 months. Along with the new toddler classroom configuration, the entire preschool building was renovated. We added another beautiful outdoor classroom, while moving the main office and work areas to the front of the school, creating a single entry with a reception area.
Our remaining needs in Phase 2 are a permanent security fence across the original parking lot/future green space, an awning above the main entrance to the school and over the walkway to the elementary/middle school area of campus and natural playscapes.
"Phase 3" of our master plan includes a multi-purpose building, a grand promenade (which will visually set the stage to match the peaceful indoor learning environment), and a courtyard. Continued grounds beautification will complement the process, all designed to reflect and contribute to the overall Montessori experience.
While we are making tangible progress (without incurring additional debt), we have not yet reached the financial needs required to complete the current phase (Phase 2). For this, we would greatly appreciate your consideration of becoming a long-term supporter of our master plan for the Montessori School of Ruston. In short, we’d like you to join our team! Your support enables us to continue serving our growing community with authentic Montessori education, as we have since 1985. MSR is a 501(c)(3), and all charitable donations are fully tax deductible. Your donation will be deeply appreciated, and you may rest assured that it will be carefully allocated toward our continued growth.
We invite you to come by the school and take a look around. We want to share our excitement with you! We would love give you a tour and show off our new environment!
Growing Montessori together,
"If education is always to be conceived along the same antiquated lines of a mere transmission of knowledge, there is little to be hoped from it in the bettering of man's future." --Maria Montessori
